Contents Page 1:
This contents page uses a white background, black borders and red writing. The colours go well together, stand out and are bold, therefore makes it more appealing to the audience. The contents page uses different fonts of writing which makes it much more eye-catching and original; the style of the font is quite creative and suits the target audience of college students/teenagers, which makes it more appealing to them.
Also, each article has a headline with the page number beside it, this makes the magazine more accessible, clearer for the audience, easy for the audience to read and and also looks professional and presentable.

The contents page does not use a main image, instead it uses sub-heading images on the right to represent the subject of each article. This makes the magazine look different to others and persuades the target audience to read the magazine. The page numbers and the titles on the contents page are large and bold which attracts the audience to not only the contents page but to whats inside the magazine.

Apart from the yellow 'poof' at the top left of the page, it uses blue, white and green for it's colour scheme, which gives the page a fresh, professional look. The colours are bright against the plain background which is attention-grabbing, this makes it's target audience more likely to look at it. However, the page looks a little to formal for it to be aimed at college students, if it included a creative font and more images, it may be more appealing. This could however be aimed at the parents of college students, since the layout seems more fitting to them. The page isn't busy with loads of images and writing, this is attractive to the audience and makes it much easier to look at.
Also, at the top left of the page, there is a welcome note for the reader. This makes the audience feel more involved with the magazine and gives a sense of warmth, therefore making it more appealing to them.
The page numbers go straight down the green-blue gradient stripe with the article beside it, on either side of the stripe. This makes it easier for the audience to find what they are looking for, looks professional and makes the page layout look presentable and less cluttered, making the audience more likely to buy it.Underneath the headline for each article, there's a small summary of what that particular article is about, which gives the audience more information on that article and therefore making them more intrigued to read it.
The images on the page are relevant to their particular article, suited to the target audience and quite large, therefore taking up a majority of the space. This makes the page look simple and well presented, making it more appealing to the audience.
